Origin

The Paradise Impatiens are developed from species endemic to New Guinea. It was through the foresight of one man, Mr. Ludwig Kientzler of Germany that the potentials of this plant were recognized. Ludwig started a breeding programme with these species and met with great success. He is regarded as the father of the Paradise Impatiens seen on the market all around the world today. Through intensive breeding since the 1970’s come the plants we know today, that we see in florist shops and plant markets everywhere are not recognizable as descended from the species.

Care Instructions

Paradise do best in part shade, protected from cool winds and winter chills. Use the best quality potting mix you can buy for courtyard pots. In gardens work in compost, peat moss or other humus. Do not allow to dry out. Plant in well drained soil. Plant even with soil level. Create a shallow moat around the plant to hold water. Moderate care with a regular light application of liquid fertiliser every 6-9 weeks.

Uses

Paradise are excellent for flowering pots for patios, courtyards and hanging baskets and well drained garden beds in semi shade.
