SUPERBELLS
Great colour for your courtyard pots and gardens with a minimum of
fuss. These new Aussie Winners Calibrachoa hybrids take these popular
plants to a new level. So easy to grow, they will produce huge quantities
of small petunia-like flowers on well-rounded plants for a long season.
Trial plants in southern Queensland have grown for over a year and
flowered throughout the warmer months.
Clear white bells –a great basket or larger pot plant
Yellow
A new colour to Superbells released in 2007. A really clear yellow bell and masses of bloom, stands out in combination planting
Origin
Superbells were bred in Japan and selected
for their larger flowers and much greater disease resistance
than earlier Calibrachoa varieties. They are also distinguished
by their distinctive, vibrant colours and their vigour and heat
tolerance that results in prolific flowering for a long period.
Care Instructions
Grow Superbells in sun or part shade. Plant
into rich, well-drained garden beds rich in humus and add a
small quantity of fertiliser, or use a premium potting mix in
containers. Water well until plants are established and then
water as needed a but don’t overdo it. Over-wet roots
are the main cause of failure of Calibrachoas. Prune plants
every few months to remove spent flowers. Cut back to the edge
of the pot or basket. Apply flower-boosting liquid fertiliser
rather than fertiliser that is high in nitrogen, which will
encourage foliage at the expense of flowers.
Uses
Superbells look superb in containers or hanging
baskets on a patio, deck or in a courtyard or planted in the
garden. Superbells are the ideal plant for
adding long-lasting potted colour highlights to the low-maintenance
‘outdoor room’. Individual colours can be planted
alone or in combinations or mix and match Superbells
with other flowering plants. They can be planted in garden beds
for a mass display or for eye-catching highlights.
